A small evergreen, perennial shub Adhatoda has lanceolate leaves 4-6” long and 2” wide, and white flowers in a pedunculate spike. It grows widely in a variety of wasteland habitats throughout the Indian sub-continent. In the Himalayas it is found growing 4000 feet up on the lower slopes. It occurs also in Burma , Malaysia and Sri Lanka ,
Traditionally used in Indian herbal medicine – for at least the last 2000 years - as a treatment for coughs, colds and other respiratory diseases.
